Upgrading Your WoW Account: Firelands Mounts, Xmog, and Achievements
WoW Account Upgrade: The Firelands WoW Mounts
The Firelands was one of the more epic additions to raiding in Cataclysm and, while it may be two expansions old, it is still very much relevant to today’s World of Warcraft due to the three (3) mounts that may be possibly obtained there. The first one is the Flametalon of Alysrazor, the WoW mount that drops from Alysrazor herself that looks like a fiery Raven Lord, the second being The Smoldering Egg of Millagazor, a large and robust phoenix mount (different from Al’ar)obtainable from Ragnaros, and, lastly, The Corrupted Egg of Millagazor, which is a purple version of the Ragnaros mount drop, but obtainable only from a meta-achievement in the Firelands.
With these three obtainable mounts, the Firelands is still brimming with activity due to mount collecting solo players looking to expand their collection of beasties for swagger or for cash by selling their WoW account. And, believe me, your WoW account will be goddamned expensive if you net even just one of these mounts.
WoW Account Upgrade: Alysrazor
The easiest mount to start farming for in the Firelands is the Flametalon of Alysrazor because the eponymous boss can be immediately fought once you enter the raid instance. She is not barred or gated in any form, though she is located quite far from the entrance. She is found to the west of the entrance with her abode right beside the foot of the Firelands Volcano.
Once you enter, you encounter two phoenix that spit fire continuously in front of them and two egg nests that you have to destroy immediately or else they spawn infinite adds. Be wary with taking down the phoenix and take them from behind. The fire they spit at you has a stacking debuff that increases damage the more you take their attacks and can, eventually, kill a level 100 character outright if they are underestimated.
A short scene will play once you clear the adds and get to the very end of Alysrazor’s abode. She will then burst out and shoot up to the air where you can attack her immediately. She gets to be quite complicated as the fight goes on, so watch out for the next part of this guide as I detail on how to deal with Alysrazor competently and quickly.
