WoW Account: Is Legion Going To Be Different?
WoW Account: Legion Comes with Difficulty (lol)
“Everything is hard at the beginning” is what she said. Oh, snap! But, seriously, Every World of Warcraft expansion has only been difficult at the very beginning. However, once everything gets laid out with major patches coming in, LFD becomes easier and easier, especially when the first LFR goes live. It’s always just a matter of item level in WoW as everything gets easier with a higher ilvl. But even with entry level gear for the first heroic dungeons in WoW, it’s still a cakewalk due to how tank and healer classes are tuned in the game, most notably with how extremely OP a DK tank can be. Without need much healing, DK’s can just derp their way through sheer brute force in a dungeon with the DPS in tow and even with the healer afk. It’s become a persistent issue for the WoW community on how easy the game has become.
But Blizzard wants to go a different direction this time around with Legion, touting that the dungeons will be so difficult that a lot of folks will have flashbacks of horror about Vanilla dungeoneering. Recently, it’s been revealed on PTS that tanks, in general, have been nerfed so much that their self-sustain will no longer be enough to keep them alive with the brutal new dungeons in Legion. In other words, they’ll have to rely on a dependable healer to keep them up.

There are some who think that this is a bad idea while there are others in the opposite camp that think it’s a great way to bring back the old WoW. Blizzard has certainly taken a more casual-friendly approach in creating new content and reflects a lot on how World of Warcraft got easier to manage with each passing expansion. Why? Well, to sell WoW accounts of course. They get a bigger bankroll if they appeal to casual players more since they have the bigger population than the “hardcore” players. There’s nothing wrong with that, but the true end game addicts get affected by these casual-friendly decisions. And these are the guys that tend to drive the PvE and PvP aspects of the game to high-skill levels.
Is Blizzard really going to follow through with what we’re seeing in Alpha right now? Or are they going to back out and repeat the whole slosh of ease that we’ve seen in MoP and WoD? It’s in my opinion that they bring back the level of difficulty Vanilla used to have in order to provide that same sense of accomplishment folks had when beating older dungeons. As it stands, WoD is hardly the precipice for a Dark Souls-like environment and people burn out quickly on its easy content. I do hope things change for the better.
But, to those who want the “easy” WoW to still exist in Legion, a redditor summed it up best with the line:
“OH MY GOD PEOPLE; DO YOU WANT THINGS TO GO BACK TO HOW THEY WERE IN VANILLA OR NOT?
BE CONSISTENT YOU DISORGANIZED MASS OF HUMANITY”
Yeah, pretty much sums it up. Here’s to hoping Legion is bringing back the old WoW we all used to love. I might even just outright buy a new WoW account if they’re going to deliver the old school classic WoW.
